I AM A BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL WHO HAS BEEN WORKING HARD FOR OUR COMMUNITY FOR OVER 20 YEARS. THE CORE VALUES I HOLD ARE INTEGRITY, HARD WORK AND DEDICATION, WITH A FOCUS ON RESULTS. IF WE WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD OF OUR FAMILIES, CHILDREN, AND COMMUNITY, WE CAN ACHIEVE GREAT THINGS.
I was born and raised in Southeast Pennsylvania, and am one of four children who grew up in a working class family. I learned early on the values of hard work and, especially, giving back to my community. Education was a priority in my home, and I became the first person in my family to graduate from college. I earned a degree from Gettysburg College while working summers to pay for my tuition.
I began serving the community while advocating for children. I volunteered in my local schools, became a PTO leader, and was later named to the Council Rock School Board. I was re-elected three times by my neighbors; Republicans, Democrats and Independents. During my time on the school board, I was chosen as President and Vice President of the Board by my fellow Board members of both parties.
As a school board member, I worked with people of all political beliefs to help make Council Rock’s schools among the best in the nation while keeping taxes among the lowest in Bucks County. I accomplished this by listening to local residents, focusing on priorities and solving problems by thinking "outside the box" – skills I will carry to Harrisburg as a State Representative.
I am also a professional businesswoman who raised my children while working for a small start-up company in the healthcare industry that ultimately grew into a national firm. I rose through the ranks from sales person to Senior Vice President. That company, HealthAdvocate, was built on a foundation that is the overriding theme of my personal and professional life: helping people. Before leaving my job to run for Representative, I spent every day making sure that people who need help navigating the maze of our healthcare system get the help they need.
I met my husband of thirty years, John (who everyone calls J.T.), in our senior year of college and have lived in Northampton Township for 26 years. We are the proud parents of three children: John III, Justin and Stephanie – all of whom graduated from Council Rock High School and were active in local youth sports.
My experience, problem solving skills and background, both professional and personal, position me to help Pennsylvania tackle current and future challenges. Together we can look forward to a brighter future!
